Wine Style Guide

Light & Fruity

Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.

Smooth & Supple

Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.

Earthy & Spicy

Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Big & Bold

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Winemaker's Notes

Of a deep red color, the first impression is marked by the intensity of the aromatic expression. The wine is fleshy in mouth, the attack is frank, the finish is long with very present tannins but not rough at all. The woody notes of the barrel is discreet.

Critical Acclaim

"Shows gorgeous blackberry and spices on the nose, with sweet tobacco. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a pretty balance of fruit on the finish. Best after 2011. 21,665 cases made. –JS "

Classified as a cru bourgeois in 1932 the Château has belonged to the Lapalu family since 1964. Strong and concentrated The Patache d’Aux wines can age remarkably well and their aromatic freshness and strong structure are still evident up to 10 or 15 years later.
