Blended very early on, Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild is matured in the same tradition and with the same consummate skill as the senior wine.
Aromas of berry fruit, vanilla and spice reflect its great complexity. Round, lush, full-bodied and supported by fine tannins, it is long and ample on the palate.
Made from a blend of the three grape varieties grown in the Mouton vineyard, the 2006 vintage emphatically underlines the wine's qualitative success.
"The 2006 Le Petit Mouton is the finest example of this cuvee I have yet tasted. A combination of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc, and 14% Merlot, its dark ruby/purple color is followed by a wine with sweet tannins, an up-front, precocious personality, loads of fruit and exuberance, and a slightly flamboyant style that gives it considerable sensual appeal. It should drink beautifully for 15 or more years."
The Wine Advocate
"A smoky, perfumed wine, dominated by the proportion of Cabernet Franc. There is prominent wood here, particularly in the aromas, but they are challenged by the black currant fruits. The ripe, sweet fruit gives an immediate freshness and juiciness to the finish."
