Chateau Guiraud Sauternes 2008
Dessert from Sauternes and Barsac, Bordeaux, France
The wine is typical, defined by a pure fruit and a very beautiful aromatic definition. There are touch of exotic fruits like mango, but also draws on the lemon confit. Floral nose of angelica dominates. We recognize also the peppermint character of Guiraud. On the palate the wine is clear, has a nice acidity, plays a perfect balance. It is a great Sauternes as we love produced!
"Firm, richly structured, powered through with botrytis, a dried apricot and peach character, which is tight, the acidity compensating with a great vivid character.
Barrel Sample: 92-94 Points"
"Tasted as part of a vertical held at the chateau. It is clear that the aromatics on the 2008 are a little simpler and more straightforward than the 2007 with honeysuckle, jasmine and mango scents emerging with time. The palate is ripe and precise on the entry with well-integrated oak that is in sync with the lemon curd and apricot fruit. There is a lovely sweetness on the finish with a hint of spice lingering in the mouth. As I wrote last year – sublime. Drink 2017-2030+."
The Wine Advocate
"A ripe, flashy style, with layers of creamed peach, Jonagold apple, candied citrus peel and dried apricot, all stitched with lovely acacia honey and floral notes. This has power and purity. Drink now through 2022. 3,500 cases made."
