Winemaker's Notes:

"A blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc from yields of 45 hectoliters per hectare, this is a succulent, delicious Bordeaux fruit bomb, or as the French would say, un vin de plaisir. The wine is a deep ruby/purple color, with succulent texture, loads of fruit, and good glycerin. This is a sleeper of the vintage."

My Notes:

About Chateau Sainte Colombe:

Superstar winemaker Gerard Perse is a force to be reckoned with. In the past 12 years, he has taken several prestigious, although under-performing, Chateaux in medieval Saint Emilion, east of Bordeaux and turned them into absolute dream properties.

He also has acquired two fabulous wine-producing properties in neighboring Cotes de Castillon and made these amazing performers in their own right.

Chateau Sainte-Colombe, with its pretty label depicting a Picassoesque dove, is a superb wine in every way. It is concocted from the two Perse properties Clos Les Lunelles and Clos L'Eglise. The blend is classic Right Bank Bordeaux with Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
