Winemaker's Notes:

57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot

This is the wine to choose when you're looking for vivid, mouth-filling fruit flavors. Mountain Cuvee is a winemaker's blend that beautifully expresses the distinctive qualities of the traditional Bordeaux varietals, crafted for early consumption. Each component making up the cuvee contributes nuances that mingle with and complement each other. The result is a complex array of aromas and flavors that deliver pure pleasure in a glass.

Vibrant aromas of blackberry, black cherry, dried fruit, and baking spices jump from the glass. In the mouth the wine is rich in dark fruit flavors, with hints of mocha and roasted coffee beans. Full, fairly big tannins are well integrated in the body and fruit character.

My Notes:

About Chappellet Winery:

Climbing from 800 to 1,800 feet on Napa Valley's eastern ridge, Chappellet has over 110 acres planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot and Sangiovese.

Phillip Corallo-Titus, Winemaker
Phillip's philosophy towards making each of the wines of Chappellet Vineyard is simple: handle the grapes very gently, process as little as possible and use fermentation and cellaring techniques which preserve the varietal characteristics produced from Pritchard Hill's unique micro climate. "I try to focus on the individual qualities of each vineyard lot and use them to enhance the natural inclinations of each grape variety," says Phillip.
