Winemaker's Notes

A bountiful Chardonnay crop in 2005 was thinned to create balanced vines, and a cool growing season preserved fresh acidity and vibrant fruit character in the grapes. The resulting wine exhibits aromas of ripe stone fruit — apricot, peach and pear — along with tropical notes of deliciously ripe banana and pineapple. Brown spices such as clove, nutmeg and hazelnut frame the intense fruit. Lush and rich tropical flavors abound in its multi-textured and viscous palate.

Critical Acclaim

"On the one hand dense, deep and very well-extracted, yet on other both bright and balanced, this generously fruited offering is rife with wonderfully well-fit elements of juicy apples, citrus, sweet toast and cream in its rich aromas and follows with full-scaled flavors of real complexity and depth. A touch viscous but alive and in very fine balance from front to back, it continues to unfold at the finish with long flavors of fruit, minerals, spice and rich oak. There is far more wine here than first meets the nose and palate, and its remarkable impressions of layering tied to its perfectly focused Chardonnay fruit move this exceptional effort convincingly to the head of the class."
95 Points

"Refreshing, intense, and vibrant, with a mix of spice, floral, fig and apricot flavors that are rich, deep and complex, ending with a long, persistent finish. "

This was an excellent wine. Paired it with a baked chicken. Perfect. Smooth buttery feel with a fruity undertone. Had to have more after dinner and was excellent alone.

But Sonoma, with her size, is able to vouch for more diversity within her borders, including sub-AVAs that are climatically varied. The atmosphere of Sonoma is decidedly laid back and down home country style. But in wines, they are keeping up with the...
