Winemaker's Notes:

"One of the least expensive wines from Gerard Perse’s three Cotes de Castillon estates, the 2005 Ste-Colombe is unquestionably the softest and most immediately accessible. Its dark ruby color is followed by a concoction of ripe, sweet black currant and cherry fruit, incense, spring flowers, and spice. Drink this richly fruity 2005 over the next 4-5 years."

My Notes:

About Ch. Sainte Colombe:

Superstar winemaker Gerard Perse is a force to be reckoned with. In the past 12 years, he has taken several prestigious, although under-performing, Chateaux in medieval Saint Emilion, east of Bordeaux and turned them into absolute dream properties.

He also has acquired two fabulous wine-producing properties in neighboring Cotes de Castillon and made these amazing performers in their own right.

Chateau Sainte-Colombe, with its pretty label depicting a Picassoesque dove, is a superb wine in every way. It is concocted from the two Perse properties Clos Les Lunelles and Clos L'Eglise. The blend is classic Right Bank Bordeaux with Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
