    Winemaker Notes

Château Hanteillan is classic cru bourgeois, with good colour, and a complex nose typical of the Haut-Médoc: meaty, ripe black fruit, a smoky, cedarwood character and a refreshing hint of green pepper. On the palate, it is well-structured, with a good balance of tannins, crisp acidity and ripe fruit. The wine is very well-made, and this shows through in the silky texture and integrated oak complexity.

Chateau D’Hanteillan is a historic Haut-Médoc estate, mentioned as far back as the 12th century in the papal bull of Pope Alexander III as belonging the Abbey of Vertheuil.

The estate was later owned by a number of bourgeois families before being bought in 1972 by Mathieu-Blasco's family, entrepreneurs from the Limousin with a background in breeding and industry and a passion for fine wines.
