Catena Zapata Nicasia Vineyard Malbec 2005
Malbec
from Argentina, South America
winemaker's notes:
The 2005 Catena Zapata Nicasia Vineyard Malbec shows a deep, opaque violet color with blackish tones. The nose is ripe and intense presenting dark fruit aromas interwoven with delicate notes of violets, anis and spice box. The mouthfeel is full and rich, offering ripe crushed cassis flavors along with traces of roasted espresso bean and vanilla spice. The finish shows wonderful structure, with racy acidity and stony minerality.
"Opaque purple-colored, it displays an expressive perfume of wood smoke, mineral, scorched earth, allspice, black cherry and blackberry. On the palate it is full-bodied with gobs of savory fruit, a smooth texture, sweet flavors and superb depth." 96 Points,

"This aims for power, delivering dark, dense layers of fig sauce, roasted plum and warm currant preserve all layered with dark chocolate, espresso and black licorice. The long, dense finish is really well-built. Best from 2009 through 2015." 94 Points,
