Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Deep ruby red color. Intensely fruity with hints of ripe red berries on the nose. Moderately dry but soft, good persistence, acquiring a velvety texture with ageing in bottle.

Critical Acclaim

"(a 90/10 blend of sangiovese and merlot; aged for 12 months in barriques 50% new; 14% alcohol) Dark red. Musky, reduced aromas of redcurrant, red plum and underbrush, along with a dusty quality that mostly dissipated with aeration. Then light, fresh and clean on the palate, with smooth, persistent flavors of pomegranate, red berry and cherry."
