Winemaker's Notes

Color: Medium- to full-bodied red.

Bouquet: Intense and persistent; aromas of violets and black currants can be readily detected.

Taste: Dry and refined, with a characteristic trace of mint on the mid-palate.

Critical Acclaim

"An old fashioned Chianti with bass notes of earth and smoke, this has juicy red fruit with some high-toned volatile esters that pull in a different direction, building tension into the wine's structure. The earthy flavors last, ready to drink with braised pork."

Though present in southern areas of Chianti Classico, limestone is unique to Verrazzano in the cooler, norhtern sector, accounting for the singular blend of muscularity and finesse evident in Verrazzano wines.
