L'Apparita has enjoyed cult status right from its first vintage, 1985. Lying at the top of the Bellavista vineyard, at an elevation of 490 metres, is the collection of small parcels that make up the L'Apparita vineyard, a total of 3.84 hectares. It was planted to Canaiolo and Malvasia Bianca in 1975, but grafted over to clone 342 of Merlot between 1982 and 1985. Its open lyre training system and clay-rich soil make this small cru a true jewel in the international wine world.

A beautiful currant and blueberry character to this wine follows through to a full body with ultra-fine tannins and fresh fruit. Very, very fine. Pure merlot. This needs time to come together but it is so beautiful now.

Stunning as usual, the 2009 L’Apparita (100% Merlot) starts off slow but builds steady momentum and intensity. This is a seamless and beautifully integrated expression that sees fine contrast between acidity, structure and fruity extract. The wine is still tight, so give it time to complete its bottle evolution. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030.

An elegant, Bordeaux-like style, offering cherry, black currant, cedar and floral notes. Balanced and harmonious, this needs a little time to absorb the moderate tannins. A hint of orange zest graces the finish. Merlot. Best from 2015 through 2024.

Ama is an old, fortified village situated near Radda and Gaiole in the heart of the Chianti Classico region. The Castello or Castle of Ama is surrounded by the beautiful Tuscan countryside and is near some of the original, noble families of the Chianti region. The meticulously cultivated vineyards are privy to optimal exposures and consist of fertile soils. Ama is a modern estate comprising 500 acres of land, 200 of which are vineyards. These vineyards are divided into five important parcels; San Lorenzo, Bellavista, La Casuccia, Bertinga and Montebuoni. In the 1970s, four families formed a partnership and purchased the property with the goal of producing world-class wines. Castello Di Ama is unique, employing its best Sangiovese to produce Chianti Classico, unlike many Tuscan producers who have chosen to blend their best Sangiovese into Vini da Tavola or Super Tuscans. In addition to the acclaimed Chianti Classico produced in each vintage, the crus of Bellavista and La Casuccia are produced only in outstanding vintages and in extremely limited quantity. These wines in their concentration, harmony and overall elegance represent the best expression of Sangiovese in Tuscany.
Legendary in Italy for its Renaissance art and striking landscape, Tuscany is also home to many of the country’s best red wines. Sangiovese reigns supreme here, as either the single varietal, or a dominant player, in almost all of Tuscany’s best.
A remarkable Chianti, named for its region of origin, will have a bright acidity, supple tannins and plenty of cherry fruit character. From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
