Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Authentic Brut epitomizes the Canard-Duchene style, where freshness and intensity bring together nobility and nature. A blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the wine is characterized by fresh fruit aromas jostling with brioche notes. The fruit aromas carry through to the palate and intermingle with pastry notes. Authentic Brut epitomizes is light-hearted Champagne, perfect for every occasion.

Critical Acclaim

"This dry Champagne is lightly spiced, offering hints of green apple, butter and biscuit, with a fresh, blossom-tinged finish."
88 Points

"Light gold. Fresh apple and lemon aromas and flavors are complemented by subtle floral and honey nuances. Light-bodied and clean, with good lift and finishing cut. In an understated, relatively straightforward style that's quite easy to drink."

I don't usually buy champagne but couldn't resist this one. So glad I got it, because we took it to a friend's house for a New Year's Eve party and it blew the other champagnes out of the water. This year I'm trying some other bubblys but chances are I'll come back to this one for some special occasions. It's really nice.

Learn About Canard-Duchene

1860 in Ludes, Victor Canard, A cooper, and Leonie Duchêne, from a family of vignerons met and fell in love. They got married, and started to make their own champagne. In 1890, their...

Learn About Champagne

Champagne is both a region and a method. The wines come from the northernmost vineyards in France and the name conjures an image like no other can. An 18th Century Benedictine monk named Dom Perignon is said to be the first to blend both varietals and vintages, making good wines not only great, but also special and unique to their winemaker. Today, nearly 75% of Champagne...

In producing non-vintage wines, Champagne houses strive to keep the taste consistent year by year, and non-vintage wine provides the winemakers flexibility in blending, ensuring a constant style each year.
