Winemaker's Notes

This crowd-pleasing effort delivers a big mouthful of fruit along with notes of mineral, lavender, blueberry and plum. Forward, tasty, and wellbalanced, it is an excellent value.

Pairs well with paella, pasta, vegetables, mushrooms, stewed meat, sausage, pork, roast meat, red and/or white meat with sauces, grilled meat, and short or medium cheeses.

Critical Acclaim

"Supple and tender, yet expressive, this red delivers wild berry, garrigue and light vanilla flavors that mingle and glide over light tannins. A pretty wine, with good depth. Mazuelo, Syrah and Garnacha."
89 Points

"Inky purple. Spice-accented aromas and flavors of blackberry, boysenberry and licorice, with black pepper and mineral nuances. Juicy and precise, finishing with very good energy and lingering spiciness. This is still a baby.

Learn About Can Blau

The D.O. Montsant, where Can Blau is located, is a horse shoe shaped appellation that surrounds the D.O. Priorat on three sides. It should have been included on the Priorat appellation but was excluded. Can Blau is composed of 60 acres of vineyards with an average age of 35 years. The soils are similar to Priorat with Montsant being a bit more complex with a mixture of slate (llicorella), sandy clay and chalk.
