Winemaker's Notes

Julia's Vineyard is located on the cooler, western end of the Cambria Estate. Named for the owner's youngest daughter, all fruit from Julia's Vineyard is hand harvested and estate grown and reflects the quality of Pinot Noir from the Santa Maria Bench in Northern Santa Barbara County. Maritime influences that funnel in from the Pacific Ocean help to maintain mild temperatures and extend the vineyard's growing season which fosters the development of fruit with well-balanced acids and optimal varietal characteristics.

"Our 2005 Julia's Pinot Noir offers dark ripe Bing cherry, raspberry and strawberry flavors that open into an underlying earthiness. A round mid-palate leads to vanilla and cinnamon spice on the silky finish."
–Denise Shurtleff, Winemaker

Critical Acclaim

"Sweet oak smelling of roasted vanilla beans with a hint of creme caramel joins with ripe cherries and whispers of raspberry in this wine's medium-volume and fairly open aromas, and that same sense of openness shows up in the wine's fairly rounded, slightly soft-edged texture and flavors. On the whole, it is well-balanced and ready to enjoy today."
