The CG is an independent, monthly publication co-founded in 1974 by publisher/editor Charles Olken. The Guide's goal
is to offer reviews of all the wines of California. Wines are blind-tasted by the Guide's tasting panel and all wines
are purchased rather than supplied as samples. Wines are judged on a star basis, which in turn translates into the
100-point scale. Every review is published in the Guide, regardless of stars or points.
