Winemaker's Notes

The Byron 1998 Pinot Noir Santa Maria Valley once again meets Winegrower Ken Browns goal: to create a Pinot Noir in the classic style, as expressed through layers of intricate flavors in a rich, perfectly balanced wine. Bright aromas of black cherry and rose petals are accompanied by accents of vanilla and spice. Driven by pure fruit components, including a touch of sweet dark cherry, the wine clearly reflects the perfectly ripened Pinot Noir flavors of the unusually long growing season. The texture, silky and smooth, culminates in a pleasing touch of natural acidity on the finish.
