The Cooperative of Buzet was formed in 1953, and the region gained AOC status in 1973. They have their own cooperage, and this attention to detail gives great quality at very petite prices--like quality petit Chateaux of Bordeaux, but at a fraction of the cost. They have about 4,250 acres of vines, and 279 growers. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon are the main grapes.
