The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon, which comes from multiple fruit sources in Rutherford, Oakville, Yountville, Coombsville, Oak Knoll and Carneros, was aged in 100% new French oak. A blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it exhibits an opaque purple color, great intensity and a sweet nose of blue and black fruits intermixed with toasty oak, lead pencil shavings and forest floor. Rich, layered and full-bodied with silky tannins, this broad, savory 2008 should drink well for 15 or more years.

Remarkable for its complex aromas of roasted coffee, dried herb, dark berry, mocha and sage, yet for all its size this is quite graceful and elegant, even delicate, with a long, tapered finish where the flavors glide along smoothly. Drink now through 2021.

This is always a full-throttle style but I always like it. Loads of pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg and other spices as well as jammy fruit that turns to chocolate. Full body, but balanced at the finish. Yummy now.

Buccella: Latin for "mouthful." Its name evokes the wine's big, bold concentrated layers that wrap a mouth with luxury. The story of Buccella began over a beautiful bottle of 1990 Gaja. It was William and Alicia Deem's first date. They were two individuals with distinct dreams, until their common love of wine started them on a wonderful journey together. Their passion drove them to begin the pursuit of a shared dream in 2002 – quite simply –to make the best wine they could. The Deems savor wine for its ability to make connections, create memories, and nourish the true enjoyment of life. Buccella handcrafts limited production Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
