The wine is deep red with some brick hues.
On the nose a chocolate earthiness is evident, with spicy vanillin from the oak coming through. Boysenberry fruit aromas with hints of black cherry develop with time as the wine opens up.
To taste, there is a full, yet fine, tight tannin structure and a display of spicy vanillin oak with cedary hints. Fruit reminiscent of black cherry and plum will intensify with time. Earthy, chocolate flavors add complexity. The wine is well balanced, with a lingering finish.
