Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Boutari Moschofilero (mo-sko-FEEL-ero) is a premium white wine made from 100% Moschofilero grapes grown in high elevation vineyards in the AOC region of Mantinia in the Peloponnese.

The wine is brilliant, crystal-clear, white-yellow color with green tints. A fresh wine with an intense floral and fruity bouquet dominated by aromas of white rose, melon and citrus. It is well-balanced and fresh, with intense flavor and long aromatic aftertaste (orange blossom, grapefruit).

Critical Acclaim

"More floral than fruity, this is long and lean, its honeysuckle scents shaped by a firm, slate-like minerality. The finish may be the best part, the zingy acidity leaving the palate clean, a lasting kiss of citrus oil flavor staying on the lips."

Slighty sweet and medium bodied. 2010 is the best vintage here that I've tasted.

Style: Light & Crisp
Very light with nice taste profiles. The aroma was mostly citrus and melon and the taste was similar. Somewhat sweet with very mild acid. Although i prefer a medium body this wine had good flavors and aromas. It was very smooth and pretty crisp.

Since that first vintage the family has become a pioneer of Greek wines. From exporting the first bottled red wine from Greece to reviving lost varietals, Boutari now crafts wines from six different regions...

With over 400 indigenous varieties, you won't find many Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay wines, although the grapes do grow here and are occasionally blended. The climate of Greece is good for...
