Winemaker's Notes

Unlike some of its Borsao stablemates, this bottling isn't gushing with fruit in the nose, but it has something more: balance. Black cherries and blueberries coincide with gentle vanilla and toast, and mineral and rock elements finish the wine, along with a whisp of citrusy crispness.

Served this at a party the other night and a couple of my "wine snob" friends that don't drink low price (cheap) wines were astounded when I showed them the bottle and price. They thought it was probably in the 40-50 dollar range. Looks like I'll be ordering more of this. Update, I did order more. Very drinkable for people of all tastes. Great value for the price. This one will convince your friends that they don't have to spend $60-$70 for an good wine.

I have found this wine to be an excellent choice to serve red wine drinkers that do not have the palate to appreciate the nuances of really fine reds. Call me cheap, but to open a $100 or more bottle of a fine wine and serve it to someone who has no appreciation of it would be a waste.

Learn About Borsao Map ItMap It

Founded in 1958 in the town of Borja, called Borsao in the 4th century B.C., this winery represents what can be done with Garnacha, a grape that is not well appreciated by the Spanish press. Through meticulous selection, work in the fields and at reception time in the winery, modern winemaking produces this highly fruity wine. One of the best examples of the region known as "The Garnacha land of Spain", the lower part of the Ebro River.

Learn About Other Spain

The third largest country in production, Spain ranks first in land under vine. Diversity and innovation are the key factors bringing Spain back into the world wine market. The most popular red varieties of Spain include Tempranillo and Garnacha (Grenache). Whites don't garner quite as much recognition, but there are some regional varieties not to be missed, like Albarino...

Learn About Grenache

Grenache (greh-NAASH) Sun-Worshiper This sun-worshiping grape gets ripe and loves hot, dry weather. Popular in Spain (called Garnacha), Australia and the southern Rhone region of France, Grenache is the primary grape in regions such as Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Tavel, and Priorat. It's often tamed by less fleshy, more structured grapes like Syrah...
