Light to medium bodied wines that are high in acid and light to medium fruit. Typically no oak.
Light to medium bodied wines with lots of juicy fruit, typically medium acid and medium oak.
Full bodied wines that have typically undergone malo-lactic fermentation and/or spent time in oak.
Fruit blossom, spices and almond flavours, followed with a well textured palate with nice weight
and a rounded finish. The wine has a lingering aftertaste with subtle wood flavours.
A friendly style displaying characteristics of the components in harmony. The Viognier grapes are
sourced from a dry- land vineyard in Malmesbury, the Chenin Blanc from Stellenbosch and the
Grenache Blanc from the Piekenierskloof near Citrusdal. The Chenin Blanc and Grenache Blanc
were barrel matured in French oak, after which the Viognier was blended and the wine was cold
stabilized, filtered and bottled.
"Ripe and juicy with notes of black raspberry, cherry and mulberry accented by hints of mocha and cigar spice. The mouth is silky and decadent with a wonderfully peppery finish that lingers nicely. Widely available with 15,000 cases imported. Drink now."
The name Boekenhoutskloof comes from the Cape beech, or Kaapse boekenhout, a tree indigenous to Franschhoek and once used by the Cape Dutch for furniture making. It is pronounced, not easily, bok-un-hoatscloof.
