Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2005 Alfa Crux Malbec was aged for 20 months in new French and American oak. It offers up an alluring nose of pain grille, pencil lead, blueberry, and black cherry. This is followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple wine with lots of spicy fruit, excellent depth and grip, and a lingering, pure finish. It has enough stuffing to evolve for 3-5 years and should offer prime drinking from 2012 to 2020.

In 2007, after a three-year search for the best vineyards and terroirs in Chile, the O. Fournier Group commenced its winemaking practices. In Chile, O. Fournier has selected the most exciting areas to develop vineyards and produce wines. The group has acquired properties in Lo Abarca (San Antonio Valley) and Loncomilla (Maule Valley).
Most distinguished and celebrated from Argentina’s Mendoza, Malbec has seen runaway success since the early 2000s. Mendoza’s agreeable, continental climate with hot, dry summers and cold snowy winters allows the perfect conditions for growing outstanding Malbec. This grape is easy to like for its lusty, deep flavors and aromas of blackberry, plum, red cherry, autumn spice and tilled earth. It’s easy to find delicious, fruit-driven, affordable everyday examples and in prices beyond, quite exceptional ones with dense, supple textures that make them capable of aging.
