Light & Fruity

Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.

Smooth & Supple

Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.

Earthy & Spicy

Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Big & Bold

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Winemaker's Notes

The Mencia grapes used to make this wine come from 35 pre-selected vineyards with an average age of 42 years. These grapes produce a wine of exceptional finesse and balance, with aromas of sweet and spicy wildflowers complimenting flavors of bright fresh raspberry and dark cherry.

Critical Acclaim

"Vivid ruby. Highly fragrant aromas of red and dark berries, cola, smoky herbs and minerals. Juicy and precise, offering tangy black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors, with a strong mineral overtone. The mineral note carries through a long, sappy and refreshingly bright finish, which features a hint of spicy oak. This wine's energy makes it drink well now, but it's balanced to age for at least a few more years."

Learn About Bodegas Triton

Owned by the Gil family, the winery is located in the village of Villanueva de Campean near Zamora in the historic area known as de la Tierra del Vino, The Land of Wine. This designation pre-dates the current designation of the nearby appellation of Toro. The region known as de la Tierra del Vino should have been included in the D.O. Toro but was forgotten when the boundaries were drawn. This region was chosen for this winery because of the unique soils, similar to those found within the D. O. Toro.
