Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Blackish ruby color with ripe blackberry aromas that combine fresh and jammy tones and a mix of floral and citrus. Balanced and powerful on the palate with dark chocolate and mint flavors and good minerality.

Critical Acclaim

"Bodegas Santiago Apostol’s 2009 Offerente is 100% Monastrell aged for 12 months in a mix of new and used French and American oak. Underbrush, brier, cedar, and blue fruits are just some of the elements composing the nose of this sweet, easygoing, pleasure-bent effort that finishes with no hard edges. It is an excellent value for drinking over the next 4-5 years."

Learn About Bodegas Santiago Apostol

Bodegas Santiago Apostol was founded in 1950 by a group of growers who wanted to promote the Monastrell varietal because they found that the Monastrell varietal was well adapted to the extreme growing conditions in the region. Many of their estate vineyards are old and with lots of special attention have survived the Phylloxera attack in the 1980s. Pepe Pastor is the technical director of the bodega and the wine maker and utilizes the latest technology to produce contemporary, yet modern style wine.
