Winemaker Notes

Intense dark garnet-red with a purple rim. On the nose its fine notes of tar with sweet and fresh red-berry fruit are inspiring. A mineral acidity and concentrated cherry fruit come through and balance out to a dense and pure finish. Ideal serving temperature between 64,4 - 68°F. Perfect with grilled pork tenderloin, roasted suckling pig and foie-gras dishes.

The 2007 Limited Edition is 100% Tempranillo that spent 15 months in French oak. Purple-colored it reveals an aromatic array of pencil lead, violets, black cherry, and blackberry. Made in a more modern style than the preceding wines, it has ample sweet fruit, good depth, and a medium-long finish. It is a good value that will offer pleasure for another 6 years.

This lively red offers bright flavors of cherry, vanilla, smoke and spices, with a plump texture and just enough tannin for grip. Balanced and expressive. Drink now through 2013. 7,500 cases imported.

At Bodegas Ramon Bilbao they produce the highest quality matured wines, thus increasing both the Denominacion de Origin's and our founder's prestige. Hailed as the star red variety in Spain’s most celebrated wine region, Tempranillo from Rioja, or simply labeled, “Rioja,” produces elegant wines with complex notes of red and black fruit, crushed rock, leather, toast and tobacco, whose best examples are fully capable of decades of improvement in the cellar.

Rioja wines are typically a blend of fruit from its three sub-regions: Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Oriental, although specific sub-region (zonas), village (municipios) and vineyard (viñedo singular) wines can now be labeled. Rioja Alta and Alavesa, at the highest elevations, are considered to be the source of the brightest, most elegant fruit, while grapes from the warmer and drier, Rioja Oriental, produce wines with deep color, great body and richness.
