Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Alcohol By Volume: 13.5%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Intense cherry red color. Aromas of oak aging with hints of spices. Strong attack, good backbone, full-flavored, with well integrated long-lasting tannins. Long and persistent finish.

Blend: 75% Tempranillo, 15% Mazuelo, 10% Garnacha

Critical Acclaim

"Bright ruby. Dried cherry and herbs on the pungent, smoky nose. Firm red berry and bitter cherry flavors gain sweetness with air and turn spicier on the back half. Refreshingly bitter and linear on the finish, which echoes the cherry and spice notes. I like this wine's balance and focus. "
