The grape's thick skin naturally produces powerful, robust wines packed with flavor. Adding more power and oak to something already powerful is overkill. The three parcels that produce Barco de Piedra are located on the hillside of the Quiñón Estate. Raspberry and violet aromas with rose petal, blueberry and mineral notes make this wine. Barco de Piedra is one of the prettiest examples of the elegance and structure of Ribera del Duero, one of the great wine regions of the world.
"It is hard to find a Ribera del Duero as outstanding as this at such a reasonable price. Made from 100% Tempranillo grown in an organic vineyard planted in limestone and sand, this 2012 was aged briefly in primarily French oak. It offers up abundant floral notes intermixed with notions of blackberries, incense and graphite, complex minerality, and an elegant, sexy, medium to full-bodied personality. With lots of ripe fruit, glycerin and a distinctive forest floor character, this beauty can be enjoyed over the next 4-5 years."
