About Bodegas Palacio:
Sometime in the thirties, while demolishing the old REMONDO residence, six bottles of wine were found, each one wrapped in deeds of a will dating back to 1651, an historic discovery evidencing centuries of a winemaking tradition. Our ancestors left us the "Grandfather's Recipe", which permitted us to continue making wine with the care and attention they require.
Mr. José Palacios Remondo, planning far ahead, founded the present winery in 1948. Later, his sons continued his work following the same motto: effort and dedication to achieve top quality wines.
At the present time, over 375 acres are devoted to the growing and experimentation of a careful making of all its wines, under the direction of the firm's Technical Director, Mr. Antonio Palacios, an Oenology Graduate at the University of Bordeaux.
The tradition of the ancestors, who carefully wrapped the six bottles in parchment paper, continues today, protecting the wine from the light and as a symbol of identification of its most outstanding vintages, the HERENCIA REMONDO Gran Reserva.
