Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

This wine is a bright cherry color. It displays aromas of ripe fruit, sweet spices, creamy oak - an expressive wine. It is delicious, fruity, and toasty, with ripe tannins.

Critical Acclaim

"The 2009 Angosto is made up of equal proportions of Malbec, Garnacha Tintorera, Syrah, Graciano, and Cabernet Franc aged for 10 months in 500-liter French oak. It offers up a complex perfume made more so by a hint of balsamic. Racy raspberries enliven the palate with succulent flavor and vibrant acidity. This classy offering will evolve for 1-2 years but can be approached now."

The vineyards are nestled in hillside soils, calcareous and poor in organic matter. The goal of Bodega El Angosto is to develop Mediterranean wines, elegant and concentrated, while respecting the land.
