#8 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2012

This wine has rich aromas of dark cherry, anise, dark cocoa and toasted spices. Juicy flavor notes of black cherry, juicy plum, savory spices are highlighted by a concentrated mouthfeel and a rich, lengthy finish.

alcohol by volume: 14.5%
critical acclaim:

"Offers rich, smooth, layered flavors of blackberry, wild berry, plum and cassis. Full-bodied, yet graceful and elegant, this is most interesting on the finish, where the flavors glide along and pick up a subtle lift of spice and mocha. Drink now through 2024."

Wine Spectator

"Medium ruby. Blackberry, minerals, bitter chocolate, menthol and a crushed rock note on the nose. Lush, broad and dry, with currant and black cherry fruit dominating. Finishes quite suave, with fine but serious tannins and very good length."

I think WS got this rating spot on! I tried one bottle and the rest will sit and mature. Highly recommend.

rating (5/2/2012):
Fantastic. All the qualities of a high end Cali Cab. Very dark, dense color, powerful fruit bomb of dark cherries, plumbs, raspberries with hints of tobacco and chcolate. Nice integration of heat, acidity and tannins. Quite approachable and ready to drink now, despite its young age. The only slight fault was that I felt it could use a little more tanic support. 94 pts
