Winemaker's Notes:
The 2000 Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon kept evolving in my mind until I made the final blend. All of the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes on Howell Mountain had lots of stuffing, so I knew I'd be able to make a big wine, but it wasn't until I tasted the trial blend with a big shot of Cabernet Franc that I knew it was right. In past Private Reserves, our Cab Franc component was very small, and in 1998 and 1999, it wasn't an option because we didn't get enough of it, but in 2000, it was awesome. -Ed Sbragia, Winemaker |
