Wafting aromas of ripe red currants, black cherries and mildly smoky and sweet vanilla oak. Layers of currant fruit, dense black cherry, and notes of brown spice (cocoa, nutmeg), dark chocolate, and hints of sandalwood. Perfect balance, great concentration and length, and
loaded with fine, ripe tannins for having with food or for aging. This wine should age beautifully for 10-25 years.
Pairs well with a wide range of foods including grilled steak, roasted pork loin, veal, medium-strong cheeses, and most cream sauces.
Blend: 50% Malbec, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Syrah,10% Tannat, 5% Petit Verdot
"The 2009 Expresivo is a blend of 50% Malbec, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Syrah, with the balance Tannat and Petit Verdot. It offers up considerably more sophistication and complexity in its suave personality. In the glass it displays enough structure to evolve for several years and will deliver prime drinking from 2014 to 2024."
The Wine Advocate
"Good full ruby-red. Blackberry, Baker's chocolate, flowers and sexy oak on the nose. Suave, sweet and juicy, with a distinctly savory accent and harmonious acidity to the raspberry and floral flavors. Offers an attractive combination of sweetness and acidity and an umami-like texture. Finishes with dusty, building tannins and solid spine."
