Not only is this a perfect wine for spring and summer, it's a perfect example of the attention to detail that goes into the wines we craft. Unlike most wineries, which produce rosés as a byproduct of bleeding-off juice to enhance concentration in a given lot of wine, we grow blocks of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre specifically for our rosé. This is important for several reasons: the fruit on these blocks is farmed differently, and it is harvested sooner at lower Brix and with higher acidity. In turn, the three varietals we have chosen to blend together create a more complete expression of rosé, with the Grenache core delivering bright fruit, acid and structure, the Syrah contributing color and depth, and the Mourvèdre adding textural softness, and sophisticated notes of earth and spice.
I purchased this wine because of the price and because it was advertised as being a boutique wine (limited quantity). I loved the mellowness of this wine. There are better (more expensive) wines out there, but I found the Beckman to be a good balance of spice, fruit, and acid. It is not sweet, but it is refreshing. Also, I just love the color of a nice rose wine.
