Big & Bold

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Alcohol By Volume: 14.3%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Deep ruby purple color with raspberry and blackberry jam with light black pepper notes. Generous body, jammy fruit, good extract with well-balanced acidity. Fine tannin and a lingering finish.

Critical Acclaim

"Rich and soft, with a velvety texture, this lovely Syrah has forward flavors of caramelized blackberries and blueberries, grilled bacon, sautéed wild mushrooms, black pepper and sweet, smoky oak. The tannin structure is dense and fine. It’s very good now, with decanting, and hints at additional complexities over the next 4–5 years. "

Learn About BearBoat

Like the delightful bears on the label, BearBoat wines are suitable for any occasion. The cool climate of the Russian River Valley allows the grapes to retain acidity while slowly developing intense flavors.

One of his guiding principles is to create a wine that can stand up to all types of food. His many years of experience and gut instinct make each and every bottle of BearBoat truly exceptional.
