Brothers Chris and Gino Bartalotti know how to coax the best out of this gorgeous fruit for their tiny project crafting miniscule quantities of wine from both the Rutherford and nearby Stag’s Leap District appellations.
Chris caught the winemaking bug after working in Italy where he was put through his paces at his family’s winery, doing lots of grunt work for the privilege of learning the basics of good, old-fashioned hose slinging. Back in California, he teamed up with brother Gino in 1999 and launched the Bartalotti label with a 2004 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
