Alcohol By Volume: 12.5%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The wine has a citrine color and a clear, bright appearance. It is a complex, delicate and persistant wine, well-balanced and with the presence of tropical fruits and slight floral notes. Ideal as an appetizer or to accompany fish, italian cuisine or light meat dishes.

Critical Acclaim

"Alvarinho is the grape of northern Vinho Verde, giving a style that is rich and complex. The fruit here fits that character, packed with pear, apple and citrus flavors and a light texture of lime zest. Note: this wine is commercialized as Follies Alvarinho outside the U.S."

Actually, 3.5 stars. Color, this wine has a clean nice light color. On the nose, I am picking some tropical fruits, some floral aromas going on, lime and limon. Midpalate, it is very clean, very crisp, fresh. This wine indeed has a soled character. Finish, not really long, but smooth and nice. This wine is well made and balanced. For $7.99 this is the way to go. I always say Portugal is the way to go for quality vs price. I am 89+ on this effort. This wine is bottled at 10%. Happy drinking!
