Light to medium bodied wines that are high in acid and light to medium fruit. Typically no oak.
Light to medium bodied wines with lots of juicy fruit, typically medium acid and medium oak.
Full bodied wines that have typically undergone malo-lactic fermentation and/or spent time in oak.
Aromas of fresh grass, reminders of ripe fruit (peach), tropical fruit and hints of aniseed.
The wine has good volume, body and structure, with notable fruit sensations and grassy hints like those we felt on the nose and which are so typical of the Verdejo grape, and a long aftertaste accompanied by a nice touch of bitterness in the finish.
Goes well with all kinds of fish, salads, pasta and white meat, and thanks to its good structure it can also be drunk with light red meat dishes.
Bodegas Aura is situated in Rueda, near Tordesillas (Valladolid).
Aura owns a total cultivated area of vineyards that is almost 80 acres and is divided between 24 lots of the Verdejo variety (an authentic variety of the area) and 8 lots
of Sauvignon Blanc.
Winemaker Teresa Rodríguez and her team work very hard to squeeze every drop of character from each terroir, with their efforts concentrated on two of the authentic varieties:
Verdejo and Sauvignon Blanc.
Once used only for making sherry-like wines from the Palomino grape, Rueda has found it's white savior. The Verdejo grape, grown here for centuries, was found to create a dry, refreshing white wine in the 1970's. By 1980, Rueda had its own DO.
