Winemaker Notes
For the 2004 Saralee's Syrah they co-fermented a small amount of Viognier with the Syrah, a technique originally popularized in the Cote Rotie district of the Rhone Valley. The presence of this floral white grape tends to lift the bouquet of the Syrah and soften the mouthfeel. This 2004 is textbook cool-climate Syrah. The nose is bold, exotic and packed with ripe plums and white pepper. The flavors are intense, ripe and well structured with beautifully balanced tannins. It is deep, firm, spicy and complex.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2004 Syrah Saralee's Vineyard was aged in French oak for 18 months and bottled unfined and unfiltered. It exhibits plenty of blackberry, bacon fat, and exotic fruit aromas (a small quantity of Viognier is co-fermented with this cuvee). This lush Syrah is difficult to resist, but if you can keep your hands off of it, it should age well for 5-10 years.
