Winemaker Notes
Sonoma Valley is a bucolic setting of rolling hills, well-tended vineyards, and soaring oaks. Celebrating thisspecial place, Arrowood Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted exclusively from vineyards neighboring ArrowoodWinery. Mountain and hillside vineyard sites (many organically farmed) were thoughtfully sourced inanticipation of this wine. Arrowood Cabernet Sauvignon captures the character of each site, blending them totell a story both of vintage and of the distinct terroir that is Sonoma Valley.
The use of Sonoma Valley hillside vineyards gives structure to a particularly intense and concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon. This Cabernet has very rich aromas of cassis, black cherries, and plums with nuances of toasty oak in the background. On the palate, the wine shows its underlying depth of dark fruit. It is silky in texture with almost a sweet impression that lingers into a plethora of black fruits, cassis, and a nuance of dark chocolate on the finish.

Shut down by hard tannins and utterly dry, this fine young Cabernet is simply not ready to drink. It's very rich in blackberries, smoked meat and charred wood, with a finish that's fine, long and sweet in ripe fruits. Should blossom after 2014 and hold for a number of years.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma includes fruit from the famed Monte Rosso Vineyard. Aged in a combination of French and American oak for two years prior to being bottled unfined and unfiltered, it is an outstanding Cabernet boasting a deep ruby/purple color along with copious aromas of creme de cassis, graphite and spice box. Full-bodied with supple tannins, a generous, even corpulent mouthfeel and a long finish, it should drink well for a decade.

While Sonoma County is acclaimed—and rightfully so—for its Chardonnays, Pinot Noirs, and Zinfandels, it also produces exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon. Of the region’s 18 American Viticultural Areas, only a handful produce top-notch Cabernet Sauvignon. These appellations include Alexander Valley, Knights Valley, Sonoma Valley and Dry Creek Valley. Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignons made in these appellations can offer a complex array of aromas and flavors. Fruit notes such as blackberry, blackcurrant, cassis, black cherry and raspberry often are accompanied by hints of graphite, dusty earth, cigar box, toast and vanilla. The varietal has a rich history in Sonoma, and some of these Cabernet Sauvignons and Cabernet-based blends rival the best from Napa Valley.
