Dark chocolate, anise, and black cherry scents appear on the nose. This Cabernet Sauvignon has amazing intensity on the entry, with a tannic, broad structure. The mid-palate is deep and complex, with blackberries, licorice, and earth notes supporting the flavor of Black Mission figs. The finish opens up, with a surge of plum, berry, and rich cassis.
The 2005 Arnold Palmer Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was handpicked from a vineyard on the west side of the Napa Valley. The vineyard has bale clay loam, alluvial soils which provide excellent drainage, and develop deep rooting grapevines. The vines back up to the base of the Mayacamas Mountains, in the heart of Cabernet country. The wines are able to develop tremendous depth and complexity with excellent balance.
