Alcohol By Volume Guide
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.
This powerful wine is brimming with flavors of ripe dark fruit—blackberry, blueberry, plum and blackcurrant—balanced by dark chocolate, roasted coffee, spice and sweet vanilla notes.
Winemaker Francoise Peschon comments: There is an
earthy and mineral character typical of the Eisele Vineyard terroir, with seamless fine-grained tannins that are elegantly integrated. Dense and structured, this wine will benefit from several more years of bottle age, and should age gracefully for at least two decades.
"Smooth and polished, with detailed flavors of ripe plum, black cherry, spice and light oak, this pedigreed red turns rich and elegant, with a long, complex aftertaste."
"The saturated purple-colored 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard offers an attractive nose of black fruits intermixed with toast, minerals, subtle tar, and wood smoke. Full-bodied, with impressive purity, a multi-layered mid-palate and finish, it is an expressive, pure, powerful, and large-boned wine."
The Wine Advocate
"Very saturated red-ruby color. Knockout aromas of roasted plum, melted toffee, leather, violet and tobacco. Thick, ripe and palate-caressing; tactile, lush and seamless. Great richness currently hides sound underlying structure. Offers really wonderful flavor in the mouth. Strong juice.

The area was settled by a few choice wine families in the 1960's who bet that the wines of the area would grow and flourish. They were right. The Napa wine industry really took off in the 1980's, when vineyard...
