Alcohol By Volume: 13.5%
Alcohol By Volume Guide
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.
This wine, with its rich black ruby color, exudes aromas of ripe, deeply concentrated fruit, Asian spices, cocoa butter
and sweet vanilla. It fills the mouths with firm, dense, luscious fruit and fine tannins. Winemaker Francoise Peschon
describes the wine as: delicious, opulent, smooth and seamless, with layered flavors of cassis, plum, toffee and spice that
coat the palate, followed by an exceptionally long spicy finish. While bursting with fruit, it is impressive in its harmony,
balance, and elegance. It should age gracefully for 20 years or more.
"Araujo's Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard has become a benchmark. I believe the 1995 is the finest produced under the Araujo regime. It is close to perfection. The wine combines extraordinary power and richness with remarkable complexity and finesse. The saturated purple/black color is followed by aromas of sweet vanillin intermixed with riveting scents of black currants, minerals, exotic spices, coffee, and toast. There is nothing garish about this subtle yet powerful giant of a wine. A Napa Valley classic, it is full-bodied and extremely rich, yet retains its sense of balance and symmetry. This fabulous Cabernet Sauvignon should age effortlessly for 30 or more years. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2030."
The Wine Advocate
"A delightfully rich, vibrant and complex wine that is aging very gracefully. The core flavors are well-focused and offer a mix of mature red currant, plum and floral scents, with a touch of anise and mineral on the finish. Ripe tannins let the flavors glide through the finish, where mocha adds a nice added dimension."
"Very deep, saturated ruby-red. Crystallized black cherry, violet and crushed dark berries on the nose, along with a faint dusty, leathery quality. Lush, tactile and seamless, with wonderful sweetness of fruit for the vintage. Already shows lively cassis and redcurrant fruit in the middle palate. Finishing flavor begins subtly, then expands into a very long aftertaste."

Protected by the Palisades Mountains to the north and cooled by westerly breezes from the Chalk Hill Gap, this 38-acre vineyard is planted on warm...

It's hard not to think of Napa Valley when thinking of California wines. The region is, after all, the one that brought world recognition to California wine making. The area was settled by a few choice wine families in the 1960's who bet that the wines of the area would grow and flourish. They were right. The Napa wine industry really took off in the 1980's, when vineyard...

Perhaps that title is due to its ability to grow worldwide in a number of climates, or to the fact that it produces wine with such character yet such diversity. Either way, this grape is responsible, as a whole or a partner, for some of the greatest wines in the world. In Bordeaux,...
