Winemaker's Notes:
Blend: 70% Corvina Veronese, 15% Rondinella, 10% Syrah and 5% Sangiovese
Deep ruby red in color, La Grola offers a wide, embracing bouquet of wild berries, juniper, licorice, tobacco and espresso. Full-bodied yet silky, with juicy tannins, La Grola is the wine of choice for red meat, either roasted or in casseroles, and mellow, aged cheeses.
90 Points
"The estate's 2004 La Grola (70% Corvina, 15% Rondinella, 10% Syrah, 5% Sangiovese) is made from super-ripe fruit harvested from a modern, densely-planted vineyard. It is a decidedly structured wine that explodes from the glass with an array of earthiness, blackberry preserves, sweet toasted oak and new leather in a more linear, deep style than Palazzo della Torre. It too is a superb value. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2014." Wine Advocate
