Bien Nacido Vineyard is famous for growing award-winning Chardonnay. Located in the Santa Maria Valley of Santa Barbara County, Bien Nacido Vineyard is highly influenced by the California coast. The soil is well-drained sandy loam with pieces of decomposed shale.
Aliento del Sol Chardonnay is a luscious, structured wine with intense flavors of ripe pear and green apple. Barrel fermentation contributes nuances of oak spice and honey, while malolactic fermentation creates a round mouthfeel with a supple, creamy texture.
In translation from the Spanish language, Aliento del Sol means "Spirit of the Sun." This name refers to California's Spanish history, but more importantly to the cool and sunny climate of California's coast. The maritime influence of the Pacific Ocean creates morning fog and afternoon winds: an ideal climate for the production of world-class Burgundian varietals. In order to handcraft the finest wines, we have selected specific vineyards within the Central Coast appellation, which includes Monterey, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara Counties. Our consulting winemaker, Christian Roguenant employed traditional techniques and modern technology to create wines that express ripe fruit flavors with balance and finesse.
