Wine Style Guide
Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.
Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.
Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.
Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.
An intense purple color, with a natural bouquet of small red berries and spices. On the tongue, it is silky with round, full tannins. This Cornas is elegant and full of fruit.
"The opaque purple-colored 2010 Cornas Les Chailles offers up scents of smoked game and charcoal, a full-bodied mouthfeel, supple tannins and pedal-to-the metal richness and density. Already drinkable, it has at least 15 years of aging potential. "
The Wine Advocate
"A gorgeous, modern expression, offering ganache, pastis and fruitcake notes out front before dark fig, currant and crushed blackberry fruit fills in quickly behind. Shows lots of drive, with a graphite spine grounding the finish, letting bay leaf and sweet tapenade hints flicker in to keep this grounded in its terroir. Best from 2015 through 2030. 266 cases made."
"Inky ruby. Blackberry, cherry-cola and violet on the highly perfumed nose. Sappy and concentrated but lively as well, offering intense dark berry flavors that are given spine and lift by juicy acidity. Finishes on a gently chewy note, with excellent clarity and slow-building tannins.
Rating: 92(+?) "

At the time, it was an audacious decision: despite their history, the Cornas and Saint Peray appellations were forgotten sleeping beauties. Very quickly, he...

Learn About Cornas
Talk about potential... the appellation of Cornas is lesser-known than its northern counterparts, but has the ability to make delicious, hearty, long-lasting wines. The hills of Cornas are steep and hug the Rhone river, as many Northern Rhone appellations do. Cornas is typically best when aged for up to 10 years, although pioneer winemakers, like Jean-Luc Columbo...

Learn About Syrah/Shiraz
(seh-RAH/shee-RAHZ) It's a Smokin' Grape Syrah and Shiraz - same grape, different name. It's a popular and adept variety, growing in multiple regions and creating many different styles of wine. The home base of Syrah is the Northern Rhone, where it creates the exclusive wines of Hermitage and Cote Rotie. On the less pricy side, the Rhone makes Syrah-based wines in Crozes...
