Akiba Eger wines are produced by Egervin, which is the second largest wine company in Hungary. Egervine was founded in 1949, and represents one of the most significant players in the Hungarian wine industry. All of the Akiba Eger wines are Kosher for Passover. A simple definition of Kosher, is a food prepared in accordance with Jewish dietary laws. The Kosher law does not prohibit the use of specific wine styles, grape varieties or orgin, any wine made in accordance to these
laws can be Kosher.
The Kosher law for preparing wine entails that the equipment used to make the wine are used exclusively for the production of Kosher products.
The grapes and wine can be handled only by Sabbath observant Jewish people from grape crushing to consumption and only certified Kosher
products can be used.
