winemaker's notes:

With its broad array of origins and clones, this wine displays red aromas (candied cherry, pomegranate and raspberry), on the nose and the palate. In addition, one finds a light touch of brown spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, all-spice). True to our house style, it is elegantly textured with seamlessly integrated, silky, polished tannins.

Pair it with salmon or ahi, veal or pork, poultry (think duck) or beef, or hearty vegetarian entrees.

critical acclaim:

"Lean and saline, this has an enticing delicacy to the aromas. The flavors are savory, more in line with salted plum and dried cherry than fresh fruit; the texture, however, is loaded with tension, a fresh, driving energy that suggests a long and pulsing life ahead—and a solid pairing with duck confit. Best Buy."

Wine & Spirits

"Sleek and slender, but fleshy enough to deliver cinnamon-accented cherry flavors, showing a hint of coffee as the finish lingers. Deftly balanced."

Wine Spectator

"Vivid red. High-pitched aromas of redcurrant and cherry, with complicating Asian spice and floral nuances. Juicy and light on its feet, offering energetic red fruit and rose pastille flavors complemented by a touch of black tea. Finishes bright and long, with lingering spiciness and no obvious tannins."

Great Oregon Pinot, especially for the price.

rating (3/22/2013):
This wine has a very subtle black cherry nose. I was expecting more aroma, although this wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Definitely reminded me of Decoy P.N. 2011 vintage with a little more punch. After an hour of decanting the nose still remained subtle and dark. The initial taste was hot and very acidic. The strawberry and cherry tart was stronger than most pinots and danced in my mouth. Slightly fleshy on the mid but relatively thin for this varietal. If I had to sum up this wine in two words it would be hot and tart :) Longer finish than Decoy and more acidic follow through. Overall definitely a value in the 20$ range but ladies and gentleman I have yet to find a under 30$ wine beat out Cambria!
