Winemaker Notes

The ideal 2012 growing season gave this Chardonnay abundant fruit expression and beautiful balance. With each swirl and sip, this wine fills your senses with lush white peach, ripe pear, Golden Delicious apple and Meyer Lemon notes. Hints of mineralsand citrus blossoms, characteristic of coastal Chardonnay grapes, meld with fragrant vanilla-spice notes from oak aging. Barrel fermentation, partial malolactic fermentation and aging the wine on the yeast enhanced its opulent, mouth-coating texture, whilenaturally crisp acidity gives the wine liveliness.

Pair with: Delightful to sip with cheeses, especially triple cream Brie. Also enjoy with grilled halibut, pasta with pesto or cream sauce,sautéed chicken breast, and creamy soups.

Acacia takes its name from the lone Acacia tree that once stood on this Los Carneros vineyard. The tree stands tall against the cool winds from San Francisco Bay signaling the chilly conditions that give this region one of the longest growing seasons around. Cool temperatures, dense clay soils and extended hangtime on the vine all combine to yield Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes of rare power and complexity. Gentle handcrafting brings out the full expression of this special terroir, for wines with layered varietal character over silky texture.

While it tends to flourish in most environments, Chardonnay from its Burgundian homeland produces some of the most remarkable and longest lived examples.
